Independence Day!

We spent Logan's first 4th of July at Moody Gardens Palm Beach. It was hot, crowded and we got a little lost on the way there, but even still, we had a blast. Logan enjoyed the wave pool, some of Mikes family surprised us with a visit, and we spent a lot of the day just floating the lazy river.

We spent the evening with my mom, and some friends watching the fireworks over Nassau Bay in Clear Lake.

Happy Birthday America! Couldn't think of any other way I would have spent it.

"that's what I love about Sunday"

Swimming, BBQ-ing, and friends, what more could you ask for on a Sunday? So lucky to have such wonderful people in my life. I'm also glad to have Mike home with us, I hate him working out town and missing out on days like these.

plans for a wedding?

Mike told me I should start planning out some things for our wedding, but to be honest, I have no idea where to start. We've looked at a few venues together, and I have gone to a few myself, and I yet to find what I was looking for.

So far, what I have come up with is:
I want an amazing photographer and I won't settle for anything less than perfect.
I want something simple, and kind of country. Cowboy boots for the bridesmaids? Yes!
I want a fall wedding, preferably sometime in November.
I'd be happy with either a maroon/red and cream color scheme, or a yellow and brown color scheme.
I want Logan to be involved, and I want Mikes nephews and niece involved too.

Not much, I know. I've been searching and searching for a place to have it because until I find that, I know I can't pick anything else out.. To me, everything needs to match the venue. So far, I've found that I like the way old, rustic barns look, and wouldn't you know, Houston has none. The closest ones are near San Antonio (about 3-4 hours) and that would be a long trip for some of Mikes family. If anyone knows of anything near Houston that looks rustic/country, I'd love to know!

I would be happy to have a beach wedding, except that Galveston Island has some of the nastiest looking water around, and that is the closest place. One day I'll plan this wedding and have the perfect place.. One day.
