Damon Joseph

Our newest member has arrived! 37 weeks and 3 days of a long, exhausting pregnancy was totally worth it, because he is absolutely perfect, and is so loved already!

6lbs 5 oz and 20 inches long
8.5.14 @ 545pm

A super easy induction, with a little bit of a scare at the end, but he is perfectly healthy, and so so tiny.

Logan did AMAZING meeting him, and handled coming and going at the hospital so well. It made things ten times easier for me, knowing that he wash't off crying and missing me. I knew when I was pregnant, that he was going to be a good big brother, but this just confirms it. He has done so well, and I am so happy to have such a wonderful boy.

getting bigger and bigger

2 months left, and I am already feeling like I am going to pop! I've been spending a lot of time with Logan at the pool, and even took on keeping Sierra for a night, just to try my hand at two kids and a dog. It actually wasn't to bad, but by the end of it all, I was exhausted. It probably didn't help that I am large, in charge, and exhausted 5 minutes after my day starts.

I tried to snap a few pictures of Logan, me, and my belly, and got a few that I was happy with.. it was a bit hard trying to get my entire belly in the shot, because I am so short, and the mirror is a little to high for me, but I managed with Logans help. He really is a great kid when he wants to be!

I am still doing photoshoots, and getting busier and busier as time passes.. which makes it harder to blog, since I am constantly editing. I'm sure my blogging will become lesss and lessssss.. but I will do my best to keep up.

learning to be a big brother

I don't think I'll ever really be able to prepare Logan for what is coming with the new baby, but I have been trying to give him an idea. Every day we tell him about the baby in mommy's belly, and that he is going to be a big brother. We read books, and point out all the babies we see.. and he's starting to get the idea. He knows where the baby is when I ask, and always tells me "belly" and he knows brother's name is Damon, but good luck getting him to tell you haha.

Since I am now on moderate bed rest, I've been trying my hardest to keep Logan entertained without all the running around. Today, we spent the day reading about the baby, and had a little photoshoot, which he is starting to love. (yay!)

he was over the books, and bed quickly. Let's hope I get off this moderate bed rest pretty quickly.. otherwise it'll be a long three months.

our bluebonnet tradition

Since Logan has been born, we have stopped by the bluebonnet patch near our house, every year (sounds so dramatic, like we've been doing it forever haha), so naturally, I wanted to go again this year. I was pretty disappointed at how much the field has been trampled though! Maybe it's because we went a little to late in the season, or that there was freak weather, and we reverted to winter in the middle of spring, but those poor flowers looked pitiful. We managed though, and these are some of my favorite pictures yet!

Mike did a great job with the camera, and I'm so happy to have these pictures with my little boy. I can't wait to have Damon here also next year!

you can see last years photos here.

I'll probably add some more photos here later because there are so many that I love!

20 weeks

Here I am, a little over 20 weeks, and still cannot believe we are having another baby. Its pretty obvious now that I am pregnant, and not just chubby, so that's good. On the down side, my clothes are all shrinking, and all my maternity clothes are still super frumpy, so I'm just stuck in the middle for now.

I've been feeling kicks for a few weeks now, and Mike has been able to feel too. I'm really glad that he is here more this time around since he didn't get the chance with Logan. He's the only one who has felt baby Damon kick so far, besides me. We've tried to let Logan feel, but he doesn't have the attention span needed right now, so hopefully when Damon his doing the wave across my belly later on, Logan will be interested. He is at least calling him baby and brudder, which is fun. He's also calling him Logan which is pretty funny since we could never get him to say his own name before this.

The boys room is all set up, aside from some wall decorations I'm wanting to get. Damon's drawers are jammed packed already from my favorite outfits that we had for Logan before. Also a few that I may have bought the week I found out we were having another boy. I just can't pass up the deals on those cute little clothes!!

Overall, this pregnancy has been pretty great. No complaints here!

well darn..

So it's pretty obvious that I failed my new years resolution.. Don't judge, I'm not the only one! Since my last post, there's been quite a few things happening in our neck of the woods.

I quit working. The hours, and stress were getting to be to much, and I felt like I wasn't focusing on my family enough. It's definitely made a giant difference, and it was something that needed to happen. Since I quit, I got back into my photography business, and it has really taken off! I've had pretty much every weekend booked up, and started filling up weekdays too! I have photos coming out of my butt, and I couldn't be happier. It feels good to be home during the day, and also be working. I even got my own website up and working, and I'm pretttty proud of it.
www.amandacomptonphotos.com if you want to check it out

We found out the sex of our newest family member! Instead of doing a photo, (tried to do one, and wasn't all that happy with the outcome) we changed it up a little.

I'm pretty happy with it considering it was my first ever video to do, and we had no help. Naturally, there are things I want to change and fix, but that program is not the easiest to work with, so I'll just keep it the way it is. I do want to start doing more video work though, it's a nice change to just doing photos.

Since we are having another boy, and I am way outnumbered, we got our little girl.

Don't let that sweet little face trick you.. she is evil! Just kidding, but seriously.. she nibbles, barks, and runs wild, not to mention potty training. Just what you would expect with a puppy. Its like a new baby, but more intense at times. Logan and her have a love-hate relationship, as in it starts off all sweet and turns into a fight, where they roll around on the ground, and ends with crying.. Typically the cry is coming from Logan.  It's all very interesting, and makes for good stories.

Speaking of potty training, Logan is making a lot of progress on it. It wasn't as bad as a I was expecting, so I'm sure the next child will be my challenge.

I'm sure much more has happened, but forgetting them is my punishment for not blogging it all as it happened I guess. I do have a ton of pictures at least, and plan to get to putting them up very soon. It's time I start balancing my time.. Between my own pictures being edited, all my customers photos, and spending time with Logan and Nala, I hope I don't lose my mind!

Wish me luck!

big news

Over the Christmas holidays, we shared with our family and friends that we are expecting baby number two! We announced with a photo we had taken, but I want to go ahead and share some more from the photo-shoot.

We are so excited for our new addition! Logan is starting to get used to the idea of a baby in my belly, and has started insisting on kissing it, and telling the baby night-night. He also makes sure that if he gives my belly a kiss, daddy needs to also.. its pretty adorable. If he is in the mood to discuss the baby (because honestly, he has his moments where a baby isn't his favorite topic) we ask him what he wants.. brother or sister. His typical response is "sisser" and there's no changing his mind.

We got to see our little baby on ultrasound a few weeks ago, and my next ultrasound might reveal what we are having.. you never know! Everything looks good so far, which makes me super excited! I've even had a pretty decent first trimester, with a minimum amount of nausea. I can admit though, that I have a shorter fuse, and the littlest things can make me angry, and just like with Logan, I could sleep for days, and still be tired. But no complaints here, I know it could be so much worse.

Say Hi to our newest family member!
