first "camping" trip, day 1

I guess I would consider what we did the past weekend camping.. just subtract the tent, sleeping bags, and sleeping outside. We agreed to split a cabin with our friends out at Yogi Bear Park up past Houston, and it was a so much fun!

I was a little worried since I was taking Logan alone, and I had to go out there straight from picking Logan up from daycare. Somehow the trip there was not bad what-so-ever! Traffic was not bad considering it was Friday at 6pm, and Logan was in a surprisingly good mood (could have been because of the giant bag of cheetos he had for the trip).. until it was time to get out and see everyone. I cannot explain how bad his stranger anxiety is. I keep hoping that its a stage and that it is going to pass soon, but it's just not letting up.
Eventually, he settled down, and he got a little more comfortable with everyone. There were a few times where I walked away when he wasn't looking, so that he would interact with the other adults there. For the most part, it actually worked!

As far as I know, once I'm not around, he's an angel.. funny how that works, huh?

We did do some of the well known camping traditions with all the kids, like fishing, roasting marshmallows, and "hiking" which was really just walks around the lake, and occasional trips off the path to see if there was any hidden trails. It's always fun to see how excited kids can get over the littlest things, I love it! It makes me get excited too.

Sitting around a fire with our pretty much second family was fun, as always. It would've made the night a million times better if Mike could have been there but unfortunately he had to work a few hours away.
It took a little while before I could get Logan to settle down in our bed, and there were a few times when I thought he was going to wake Ryker up.. luckily that kid sleeps hard!

I'll share some more pictures later, there are so many!

mommy and son date

Even though me and Logan spend a ton of time together at home, I felt like we needed some fun time outside the house. So, we packed up and headed downtown to Herman Park. It was so nice out, and the park was packed with kids running around. I usually keep Logan next to me at all times, but this time I let him run loose. Scary for me, fun for him.

There were a few times that I thought Logan was going to run and jump into the water after the ducks, and he fell and scraped his knees once or twice. The real excitement happened when Logan saw a little boy in a wagon that looked like one we have here at home.. He went into full temper tantrum mode when he wasn't able to ride with him, and chased the wagon across the park. Eventually he laid in the grass and cried, and then finally ended it by coming to me for hugs. Boy, I just can't wait for the terrible twos.. NOT!

Anyways, we had a good time, and I hope I can bring him back there again. Maybe take him for a ride on the train, and bring some sandwiches.. still debating on if I want to bring dada, or keep it a mommy-son thing. We will see.

off-roading

Logan's great grandpa sent him a little motorized Jeep when he was first born. He still can't reach the pedals to drive it, but that doesn't stop him. Me and a friend decided to take our boys to the field (next to the park we go to every day) and let them put the Jeep to use.

It started with Brandon pushing Logan.. Then Logan chasing Brandon. and ended with us pushing the boys around. It was a good working for us, and the boys loved it. I'm so glad our boys get along!

*I promise Brandon wasn't choking Logan.. they were hugging!

holy cow, a whole month?!

has it really been that long? (It's funny because my last post was also a late post.) I feel like just yesterday, it was my birthday. Well, hello October, and hello cooler weather! I can't believe that Logan will be 1 in a few short weeks.. time goes way to fast.

Now that I've taking my first set of tests for school, I am focused on getting Logan's birthday party ready. I am so excited, besides the fact that my baby isn't a baby anymore! So far, I have made everything on my own, and I'm pretty proud. Invites are going in the mail tomorrow, and I'm going to crack down on the party favors (my favorite part so far!). Is it bad that I already have a theme picked out for next year?!

Anyways, its mainly school and photography have kept me from updating every night.. Its definitely a lot to balance, but I think I have it under control so far (besides the no blogging for a month). I've gotten quite a bit of business on the photography, and it has been fun! Crazy how fast it caught on, of course I'm not complaining.

In our spare time, we have been spending our evenings at the park, and when weather permits, we try to ride our bike. Logan has gotten so good at walking, its crazy. It is also scary to watch.. I cringe anytime he gets close to a sharp edge. Fingers crossed for no accidents!

Note- the black eye he has in the picture isn't from walking, its from being nosey, and pulling a tv tray down on himself haha

Oh, and if you haven't watched the movie 'What To Expect When Your Expecting' you should.. its pretty dang funny, at least to me.

a little stroll through the park

A friend I took our babies on an unplanned trip to Hermann Park in Houston the other day. I was hoping to get some pictures of LJ to show how much his grown since last month (that is becoming harder and harder since he's learned to move). Our trip started off hot and sticky, and not much fun. We got some pictures quick, Logan got a few tastes of the dirt, discovered he didn't like the feeling of mud, and we started to head back to the car.

I did find that the park has a ton of awesome places to do future photo shoots when its less than one-hundred degrees out. It also has an awesome place to let LJ run around and play in fountains when he is older.

On the way back to the car, our prayers for cooler weather were answered with rain.. and lots of it. It was hilarious! Luckily the babies didn't mind since the strollers covered them. And somehow, my white shorts didn't get soaked enough to see through them. It was an awesome trip.

PS. I thought Logan was staying dry, until I got to the car, and went to get him out. He was soaked, and looked oh-so-cute!
